DHA, not EPA, responsible for omega-3 prostate cancer risk

There have been some alarmist headlines recently regarding omega-3 supplements causing a higher risk of prostate cancer. Unfortunately, the media still insists on treating omega-3 as a generic nutrient category, when the actions of EPA and DHA are very distinct.

Head of Clinical Nutrition at Igennus Healthcare, Dr Nina Bailey, has examined the recent study and it is clear that the association is linked with DHA, not EPA. Rest assured, taking pure EPA (DHA-free) supplements does not increase your risk of prostate cancer.
